Yes, check fuse, check fluid level, check wiring connections at the master cylinder. If none of that puts the light out then pull the error code/s before you start to throw parts at it.

also, my light on dash says rear anti-lock, no flashing or any thing else except my emergency brake light is on too. when i release the emergency brake the brake light gets dimmer, but doesnt go out/? the rear anti lock light stays on too, ty
purecty, your parking light switch is OK. The red light dimming when you release the brake tell you that. Both lights on is usually caused by low brake fluid or a wiring fault at the master cylinder or faulty sensor at the master cylinder.
thank you kindly lazy k, now where is the sensor on master cylinder? there is a plug with wires coming out of it. i am trying all i can to fix this problem. again ty

hoooooooooooo-rayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy. lol. i fixed my brake light from staying on. i switched the three wires that are on the master cylinder around, i guess they had gotten mixed up at some point. dont ask me how i done it. lol. i just kept changing from one hole to another. now when u push the emergency brake down the light comes on, release it and it goes off, aint that wonderful? lol now all thats left is my rear anti lock light stays on. ty guys for all the advice you share.

I Have The 88 F-250 4x4 Had The Same Problem, After About 2 Months The Lights Went Out ,not Burned Out, The E- Brake Light Works Fine.i Do Know I Need Brake Shoes.
I am having a similar problem with my brake light and rear anti-lock light staying on. But my rear brakes start to drag and lock up soon after. How do I get the code out so I can solve the problem? I have seen a lot of code readers, scanners, and even a spercial reader for break codes. Does anyone know the one I need to purchase, or is there another way? Thanks.
If you look in the bundle of wires that pass through the firewall under the dash, you should find a connector taped to them with a black wire with orange tracer down near the parking brake pedal. If you momentarily ground this wire while the ABS light is on, it should begin to blink codes. If it doesn't blink, check the wiring at the master cylinder to make sure the float switch has a good connection.
