Rebuild a flathead in SoCal

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 06-Jan-02 AT 02:26 PM (EST)]Does anybody know of any shops in the Southern California area that has experience in rebuilding flatheads? I've got a '46 that needs the to have the motor completly rebuilt. I would like to add some speed parts so any places that do performance work on flatheads would be even better. Any help that can be given is appreciated.

P.s. Does anybody know if they ever made any performance stuff for the flathead 6? Heads, cams, headers? I've got a flathead 6 and would like to add some of this stuff if it was made

Yes, there are shops that can do the work you're asking about. I'm just too far away to tell you for sure who they are, but if you ask this question on fordbarn.com on the early V8 forum, you'll connect with a bunch of guys that live in your area. Don't worry about asking a "six" question there - the fact it's flat is what is important!

As I understand, there is some vintage speed equipment out there - some shows up on ebay from time to time. There is some new stuff but not like the abundance of V8 stuff.
Good luck with your project - sounds like fun.

Thanks MT, I'll give that site a try. I'm rebuilding 3 trucks right now, one w/ a Flathead 8, another with it's stock flathead 6 and another with a 429. But the flathead trucks are my main goal right now. Thanks again.
