My pleasure...

I've been hit three times in the last two years. The third time I caught them in the act. The one I tangled with was just the look-out, and I couldn't stay there playing around with him 'cause my kids ran in the house, and I didn't know who was still inside. So... I let him go.

They didn't have time to get much but you and I feel the same way... I hate thieves.

For a quick down and dirty tailgate theft deterrent you can put a standard worm screw style hose clamp over the "lift out" hinge.

Just put the hose clamp over the outside of the hinge cup which effectively blocks off the opening which allows the tailgate to lift out. If they really want the tailgate this won't stop them but it will slow them down enough that hopefully they will move on to another truck because now they will have to take the time to track down a screw driver and mess around with the hose clamp.

That's a good idea. I can't get to my truck right now. Is it possible to tighten the clamps from underneath to make it really difficult to remove them?

No not yet, I called a few and found a couple. But, as you know from another post, I am on a very structured income right now and the yards want like 150 to 350 for them. Have to wait a while.

Hey the good news is with the higher gas prices maybe I will get better gas mileage.

Jay, if you find out who done it.. I'll drive down to Alb and hold the SOB down while you throw him a beating. Mebbe we can get sealboy to join the fun, too.

I say we quarter the scumbags by yanking them apart with our diesels. I'm pretty sure arms and legs will break off before a good tow hitch or a 3/8in chain.
