1999 F250 transmission... please help!

Hello i have an early 1999 f250 7.3 with decent performance modifications. The transmission shop that i had my transmission rebuilt at has my truck right now and i want to make sure im not getting jerked around. A couple weeks ago i was on the highway and my torque converter dropped out then it started slipping through all the gears. brought it to the shop they said they couldnt find anything wrong with it after having it for 5 days. The day i got it back it screwed up again. they took it in and just replaced the pressure control module and the 2nd gear clutch was burnt up AND the forward drum was cracked AGAIN (second time). They say the converter still wont lock up in overdrive and they think it could be the computer... does this sound resonable?

Welcome to FTE. They should be able to hook up a scanner and pull some transmission codes. It may be time for you to find a different transmission shop and at least get a second opinion.

If anything is determined to be related to your performance modifications you might want to check into a BTS or John Woods tranny. They're the bulletproof tranny's to put behind the PSD.

Yeah I went to Aamco... i didnt know they were useless at that time but its still under warranty so its all been free its just an inconvience. The first time it broke after they rebuilt it i split the forward drum in half even though he told me it could handle anything i could put in it. They replaced it with a forged drum and i have now cracked that. I havnt even turned my chip up because of my big injectors and stock fuel pump. So what happens when i turn up 140?

Well I'd start saving your money. It sounds like when the warranty is up you'll be buying another tranny. You might as well crank it up to 140 a couple of weeks before the warranty expires so you get one more free one before the warranty's gone.

Well you'll have to tell us more about yourself, or go try and help some folks out in other threads. You've got to have at least 25 posts before that option is enabled.

There's so many different symptoms here that all I can say is that it looks like they sure messed up this trans.

Ouch. If Mark's only comment is it's messed up, then you know it's not good.

new update on the situation. they had put a resistor in when they originally installed it and that was causing a short. they replaced the clutch, pressure control solanoid and the forward drum and they took the resistor out and they said thats its working fine now... i pick it up tomarow and i will see if its fine.

I am 18 and was supposed to get a corvette when i got my license but when i flipped my moms durango into a ditch and blew it up she wouldnt let me get a corvette she wanted me in something more safe ( hence my truck). My dad told her that even though its bigger it still isnt safer considering it can beat the corvette i was supposed to get in the quarter mile . So my dad and I have been working on this truck and slowly but surely making it faster and faster. So this is my vehicle till i go to college for art and design in January when i will be getting a motorcycle ( dad builds choppers).
