You can use a C4, or a T5 5-Speed trans from an 83 to 88 S-10 truck or Blazer.

The above will fit, but you need adaptors, they are not just bolt ons without the adaptors. You looking for stock trans or a later more modern trans? For the adaptors, check out www.flat-o.com

I just finushed installing a 89 S10 5-speed in my 51 F1. If you go that route I'm sure you will be happy and quite as impressed with the difference as I'am.

Don't quote me on this, but from what I understand you can mix-match t5 innards to achive what you want providing you have the resources to do so. I believe the input shaft might be different on the T-bird unit. If so, you might be able to swap it for an S10 input shaft. All else, the trans case demisions and mounting are all the same. Except the T-bird has the shifter location further back that the S10's do.
