how to fix gauge lights?

First of all, I just picked up my first Ranger on Friday! 95 XLT 4 cyl 5 spd man, ext cab. Love it so far! Now to the problem. The lights for the gas gauge and the battery gauge are out. I thought I may be able to just figure it out by doing it, but I decided to be safe and go on here to find out. Anyone fix these before that could give me instructions on how to fix them? And can I just go to like AutoZone to pick up light bulbs for them? Oh, and the engine temperature gauge appears that it may not work. It stays really low and never really gets away from the L. On all my other cars I've had it always went to about the middle. Any help would be greatly apprectiated! Thanks!

.

Use part # 194 for the bulbs, I think there are 6 of them. It's a good idea to replace all 6 while you have it apart. It's a somewhat involved job, a search should find some threads on it.

A good old chiltons manual comes in handy for things like that it, there worth buying for odds and ends if nothing else.

Here's a link to some instructions on how to remove everything so you can replace the bulbs. I did it last year on my ranger. Not real hard to do, just pretty involved. There are 6 lights like 460 said.

I would suggest buying the # 194 LL bulbs. "LL" stands for long life. This isn't a job you want to do very often.

I just bought one, too

I recently purchased a 1995 XLT regular cab, 4 speed, 2.5L engine. My temp gauge doesn't move much either but the cooling system appears to be working ok. None of my dash lights work; could all the lights be blown? I checked all the fuses and they are fine. The dash light dimmer switch turns the dome light on and off but no effect on dash lights. Any suggestions of what to do next to find the problem are greatly appreciated.

Start by putting in new bulbs, they're inexpensive, and you might find some other problem while you are at it.
You don't want to do a lot of troubleshooting before you know the bulbs are OK.

Well I just replaced the 6 instrumental lights. It was easy! And actually I had fun doing it. I used those pictures on that link. Thanks for that! I was able to do it without removing quite as much stuff as he did. It only took an hour and fifteen minutes. Now my gauges shine super bright! Thanks again everyone
