Lifters Removal Question?

Lifters Removal Question?
OK Guys Ive recently finished changing my injectors on my 95 PSD with rebuilt one from Pensacola Diesel (ebay) .... The problem that led to this change was heavy blue/white smoke, loud engine knocking and loss of power. My engine has
230'000 miles and I figured they needed changing anyway.... Now with the new injectors it is still smoking but not as bad and the idle is missing a bit but clears up on acceleration .... The smoke issue seems to clear up a bit after the engine warms up but not completely. Ive driven it about 45 miles so far since injector change and it seems to be slowly getting better ... I live in the Bahamas and its mostly stop and go traffic, really no where to run her for sustained periods, and so the 45 miles is mostly at lower speeds.
One problem I noted under the valve pan is one rocker a bit loose, I checked the rod and its not bent, but I suspect maybe a bad lifter or maybe sticking valve... I ordered a new set of pushrods, lifters and rockers that I got from ebay at a really good price $104 bucks for all ..... I want to change all to new since I have them... My main question is, is it possibly to remove the lifters without removing the heads with maybe a pickup magnet or another device?? I really dont want to remove the heads unless I absolutely have to.
Any other ideas on the smoke problem would be appreciated ..... Help Guys!!
