Faulty Trailer Wiring Bogus Message

I have an '08 F350. I keep getting a beep and the message that I have "faulty trailer wiring" WITH NO TRAILER CONNECTED. I can clear this message with the reset button but about 50% of the time it will come on again the next time I start the truck. Twice I have taken this problem to one of the largest dealers in Minneapolis but they cannot figure it out. What is especially maddening is they don't even know what the "fault" is that the computer is sensing so they must be just poking around like blind men. This could go on forever!

Are there others out there with this problem?
Does anyone know a fix for this problem?
Can Ford Motor Company be contacted by an ordinary mortal to see if they even know anything about this problem?
Thanks.

ReAX is gaining momentum as a positive member of FTE.
I'd spray the 7 wire connector with white lithium grease or another dielectric compound. I'd also do that to any other connector I could find related to the trailer connectors. It's possible you have moisture in one of the connectors shorting it out.

Look, see these two tow hooks? They look like tusks. And what kind of animal has tusks?

there's a very fine line between not listening, and not caring. I like to think that I walk that line every day of my life.
