I had my first successful batch this past weekend. I guess the 3rd time is the charm. I have learned a lot about this and I am almost done building my 40 gallon processor. Please take a look at the pics and let me know what you all think. Any suggestions/recommendations are greatly appreciated. I put this one and a 4 gallon (using 5 gallon jugs) processor together for my testing. Works pretty good though- especially now that I know what I am doing a little better.

Looks great Dave! Isn't it great when you finally get it. I love the fact that you used whatever was laying around. I started out like you 5 years ago with junk I had in my boneyard ( no $5,000 factory made processor for me!) I built 4 different processors and hundreds of mods along the way and have done very well. Never let people tell you "you cant". You just proved them wrong!
Good Job!

It was a really great feeling when I did the wash test and didn't get soap! LOL!
I run the processor (drill) for an hour. Should I run it any longer? I then let is set for ~24 hours.
I still haven't gotten my titration kit, so I just used double the lye that clean oil requires. I didn't think it was going to clear like that.
That used oil cleaned up nice. there are some more tweaks I need to do to the 5 gallon jug processor, but it works well.

WVO. good thing about where i am getting it from is that it's 100% soybean and used for french fries. it's pretty clean to begin with so that helps a lot. like I said, I haven't gotten my titration kit yet, so I just doubled up on the lye for this attempt. Looks good though.
Now it all depends on how much wvo I will be able to collect every week. Some people I have approached would rather pay to have it hauled away than give it to me as I "might make some money" on it.

Ive been seriously thinking about purchasing a home biodiesel processor. The one I found is 5,000, but 4 other friends might chip in to purchase it. Claims to make 40 gallons in 14 hrs. Pretty much automated. I also stumbled into the vegistroke. Apparently it is a kit you install that will allow you to run straight vegetable oil. Anyone else see this thing?
we need to look in to this again - i've got the garage space, just gotta make sure I don't blow up the place....LOL
You wont blow anything up...you just might make a bunch of soap, though.
I know I know, i want to STOP paying $4.50 a gallon for diesel its just absolutely nuts.

That soap we made with the "dr. pepper" funky method works great. We mixed it in with our gojo.
