What the he...ck

Any body got an idea what this noise might be.

Pulled the tranny to do a "junkyard" bottom end on the 3.0, and this is the noise we got now.

Sounds to me like a cover plate being whacked.

Uploaded a vid that shows that she will move, but got a damn noise that is just bugging me. Is this the noise that xlt4wd90 is speaking of??

Engine speed noise. Something rubbing.

Check fan and all drives up front. Leave a torque wrench on the alternator bracket?

If it isn't visible up there, where else would a large spinning part be close to a fixed hunk of metal? Pull 'er down again.

Good thing you kept that cardboard there.

I am all but sure that it has something to do with the torque converter. That where the sound is coming from. Maybe hitting the shield. Dunno. Out she come again!

TC bolts loose? or the engine "spacer" got bent slightly, and is rubbing on the ring gear?

Update Update Update!!!

My son took the tranny cross member bolts loose and "straightened" the thing out, and no noise!! Go figure.

Also, if anyone is wondering, 170285 on the ODO when we did the "in frame" crank swap. She passed Delaware emissions with no probs, and she is back on the road!! Now I just gotta wash the thing.
