whats the difference

what is the difference between the sct x3 and the sct live wire. i found a website i can get either one and a cold air intake. there are other brands the x3 would be 500 with cold air intake and for 150 more i can get the live wire with the intake. whats is the difference between the two? if any? i want it for increased mpg not to bad on the throttle and for towing thanks

Well they both have had their quirks, I don't know if they have been worked out, but I do know with regard to people that bought them for 6.0s and 6.4s they have had issues with both products. They both hold custom or canned tunes, however the livewire is also a set of digital gauges that plug into the OBD-II port(which I do have my issues with, but I won't get into them on this post) for the majority of the readings. In all honesty, you don't want to get this type of stuff for mpg gains, you want to get it to make your truck perform better for you and if you pick up some mpgs then that's a perk, don't expect gains in regard to mpg. If your getting this for a 6.4 or a 6.0 diesel then I would want as SCT and other companies are developing new(er) products that hopefully should be better then these.

well its for a 2004 150 with the 5.4 the website has these kits and you can pick between the diablo superchip flashpaq superchip cortex programer add on 100 or the sct one i mentioned and you can pick between the s & e intake or the k&n generation II or the k&n 77 series which i chrome u add on 50 so i was kinda leaning towards one of the sct and the 77 series

Oh it's for a 5.4 ok. Which ever one you go with make sure that it allows custom tuning(rather you have to use a tuner or get the software and do it yourself) that will help you out the most with towing and it will give you the greatest chance of gaining mpgs(although don't think you'll automatically get it). Tuner's really don't help gas engines out as much as they do diesels, but with custom tuning it should help you out some.
