Tail light ?????

I have my 54 ford with shield style tail lights. I have different catalogs that show round style, and state they are for 53/54. Can anybody tell me witch were really OE? I kinda like the round SS style. But I also don't see how the license plate can mount under the shield. I had to extend out 1 inch and its still not enough, I'm confused again Kurt G. The shield lights started in '55 but you see them on earlier trucks as they are popular. I prefer the round ones myself. Your best bet on mounting the license plate is somewhere other than under the taillight...

I agree, mount the taillites to look good and function well...then work on a new plan to mount the tag. I've pretty much settled on making a custom tag brkt to mount under the last frame crossmember, that sets the tag lower and rearward . The problem is compounded if you use shorter rear bumper brkts that tuck the bumper closer to the bed. You may have to use some creative imagination on this one. Good Luck!

Thanks guys, guess I'll get the round SS taillights and brackets. Somewhere I saw bolts for the plate that were little lights. I might think on those. Tjanks again. Kurt G. Y-blocks rule.
