where do you guys mount your brake controllers?
I'm going to install the Tekonsha P3 sometime next week, when I had it in my Jeep I had it mounted under the dash. Is this what you guys do most of the time?
Finally, anybody have photo of what the brake controller plug looks like on the Ford looks like? I want to confirm the truck is prewired.

I will almost guarantee that your truck is prewired, sorry no photo

I saw that spot when I was looking up under the dash looks like that is where it'll go. Good to hear it 's prewired...I'm going to spend the 15$ and pick up that prewired pigtail!

I was just about ready to start cutting wires when I saw this pigtail up in the dash on my '02 which had the same number and color of wires as the "universal" pigtail Tekonsha gave me. When I ordered it they required info on my truck. Why in hell they don't give you the one that just plugs in is beyond me. So I ordered the plug in one and trashed the one that came with it. What a waste!

Are there any fuses you have to add after you put the controller in? I have two maxi fuses under the hood that are labeled for trailer towing and there arent fuses installed. Its 16 (trailer tow batt charge) and 28 (trailer tow electronic brake controller).
EDIT: There are also two empty relay sockets in the little box attached to the fuse box. Are these the trailer charging relays and reverse light relays that are listed in the manual.

I didn't remember any fuses on the install so I looked at the wiring diagram that came with the Tekonsha. No fuses! guess it shares a fuse with something else or it's on the F350's stock fuse block. I'll go look but not today, it's already over 100 and it's Miller time.
It must be fused. Ford wouldn't have a standard pigtail set up for it and not have it fused.

Mine is in the little cubby above the 4wd shifter. I drilled a hole in the back of the cubby for the wiring, and pushed a plastic soda bottle cap in on top of it to hold it in place. Yeah, I know it's redneck, but it fit perfectly and hasn't moved in 3 years. I couldn't find any other use for the cubby, everything else I put in there falls out on the rough roads around here...
