BF Goodrich Mud Terrains

I have a 2008 F250 FX4 Crew Cab w/6.4 diesel. Getting a set of Nitto Mud Grapplers on Monday except...

BF Goodrich (my brand of choice for 10+ years) makes the same size 35 x 12.5 R18 in the Mud Terrain which is what I am looking for. B UT the BF Goodrich Mud Terrain 35 x 12.5 R18 is only D rated for weight.

I am set to have the Nittos put on Monday morning, BUT I can always change my mind before then. WHAT are your thoughts??

Meh. If you're looking at 35's you probably aren't towing or hauling a whole lot. The D's will support the truck, but not really anything else. The sidewall flex under a heavy load is what will damage the tires.

Take a look at Toyo MTs, BFG KM2s, or Mickey Thompson MTZ Radials. Those are what I'm trying to decide between.

the D vs. E always seems to come up with BFG's. If you take the stock tires on a Ford which are E rated, and compare them to 315's which are D rated, the D's are rated higher.......LOTS of guys run stock tires and tow to full capacity. I have always ran D range tires, and do tow. Never had any probs whatsoever!

To add to this.....here are the specs for BFG A/T's. Stock size 265/75/16E range are rated at 3042@65psi. 315/75/16D range are rated at 3195@50psi. Everybody is always scared of D range tires.....but they never look up the specs!

Ditto...I run D rated BFG All terrains and I regularly pull 14 to 18K loads of hay every month.

I've looked at the specs, a lot.

Toyo AT 315/75/16, D-rated, 3195 lbs (I have this now)

Toyo MT 315/75/16, E-rated, 3860 lbs. (my next tire, unless I get some 18s)

265/75/16E Load Ratings:

Toyo M-55 - 3415 lbs.
BFG AT - 3415 lbs.

UP_There, you got the wrong spec, 3042 lbs is for the D rated 265/75/16 BFG.

I got the numbers right off BFG's page. This is a never ending debate

I'm not doubting you looked at their website, but you still got the numbers switched. They list the E rated first, then the D rated. 265/75/16E is 3415 lbs and 265/75/16D is 3042 lbs. Take a look again if you don't believe me, I just want everyone to have the correct info.

D vs E isn't as important as the actual load rating IMO.

I've seen some E rated tires that have a max load of 2910lbs, which is way to light for a SD.
