Auto lights

Does anyone know if it is possible to stop the headlights from coming on when the door is unlocked with the remote or when the door is opened.
Everytime we are camping and I have to get in my truck, I unlock the door with the remote and the headlights turn on and light up the guys camper or tent across the way. Not making friends fast with this set up.
Help will be appreciated greatly.

Perhaps disabling the Autolamp feature? Hit the setup button on the message center, go to Autolamp and select the zero option and see if that works.

yes, there is an easy way.... it is a combination of using the key, and then using the drivers door switch pad. not all trucks will have the option built into the message center. mine isnt, and so i did it with the door switches. ill see if i can find the steps on how to do so.

ok, here are the steps out of the book to disable the "perimeter lighting"
1. make sure all doors are closed
2. turn the ignition to "on", and press the driver side door pad unlock button 3 times
3. turn ignition to "off" then press the driver side door pad unlock button 3 times
4. turn the ignition to "on" and you will hear a horn chirp confirming the feature is activated
5. within 5 seconds, press the same unlock button 2 times. you should hear one horn chirp confirming it has been disabled.
**** if you hear a chirp followed by a honk, then the feature is re-activated. so, just press the unlock button 2 more times and that will again disable it.
6. then, just turn the ignition off. you will hear a chirp confirming that you are exiting the configuration mode.

hope this helps you.

How do you know if you have a message center? I have a 08" XLT super crew 2x4 5.4L with only digital thing is the odometer and it tells me direction N-S-E-W that's it can't get any help from manual either as it talks about message center and pushing set-up button etc. I dont have a set-up button, where will this be? As I will like to disengage the auto lights from coming on when unlocking doors. Thanks

You have a mini-message center that does not have the setup buttons. The full message center with the setup buttons is only available on the lariat and the king ranch models.
