Unhappy Side Mirror Marker Lens

So I went out tonight scouting the property that I hunt. I use the 4WD and do some off roading nothing to bad...after that no problems untill i pull into the garage which is a tight fit, I get to close and my mirror starts to fold in, i jerk the wheel to the right, and backed out. At this point i have some how pinched the mirror up against the side of the garage door. I thought it was really bad when i heard the cracking noise but turns out i only put a small crack in the side mirror marker lens. So my question is where do i get a new lens for a reasonanble price. not wanting to pay dealership cost if i can avoid it

Thanks in Advance

If you're talking about the trailer towing mirrors with the turn signal and clearance lights along the outer edge you're out of luck. you can't get just the lens or the lamp assembly, you have to buy the mirror cover assembly which is the front cover with the lamp assemblies installed. About $120 at the dealer. You can get either textured black or paintable. The streets around here are pretty narrow. I'm getting good at replacing mirror covers!

I bought one for my 04 from powerstrokeshop.com which is a site sponsor; you can click above for a link...

I paid somewhere around $60-$70 but can't remember exact amount. That was for the textured black.

My 06 has the chrome package; no telling what those go for....

06F250XLTFX4,
The same exact thing happened to me Sunday night. I was on my way back from scouting too! How weird is that. Like LAWNMOWER MAN said, I found some Recon replacements but have not got them yet. Can't decide on smoke or clear. I was thinking the cost was around $120 for both. Can anyone give us an idea how these mirror covers come off? I have the chromed ones. Thanks

Grab a flashlight, push the main mirror in so that you can see behind it. There are 3 flat clips that need to be pushed down to remove the whole rear half of the mirror, marker lights and all. After pushing down on the 3 clips and gently pulling the back of the housing off, don't let the housing fall, the wiring harness for the turn signals is still attached.

I busted mine a couple weeks ago. Two of the 3 tabs were broken. When I took it appart the inside frame works that the tabs go into is also broken off the main mirror. It's looking like I'll new a whole new mirror. I wonder how many pieces of the mirror can be bought seperatly...

Can you explain how to remove the housing on a F250 with power mirrors/heater? I need to replace mine and I don't see the tabs.

Thanks,
A. McKinney

another really old thread on the 'other' site

It will make more sense if you have the new cover in hand.

Make sure you tilt the mirror...the glass part all the way in so you can reach the tabs. Be careful with them...they don't like to be handled roughly...they'll just break if you're rough.
