Halo HID lights

I found some Halo HIDs at a shop today that were $360 bucks installed. they had ballasts and were 6000s. I have no clue about HIDs other than I like them. Is this brand good/bad? what about price? should I go another option?
sorry for all the newbi questions, and thanks for your time.

The ballast is the most important part, it needs to be from a good manufacture. 6k I think is in the gold spectrum, when I was looking I wanted at least 8k K.

There for a while everyone and their brothers was selling HID on Ebay. I imagine that DOT raised a stink like they did with clear tail lights and that's why they aren't as prevalent. I wouldn't buy them with a DOT approve sticker/number.

Look, see these two tow hooks? They look like tusks. And what kind of animal has tusks?

there's a very fine line between not listening, and not caring. I like to think that I walk that line every day of my life.

Ballast are one key component of a proper HID system but the other is proper reflector/projector design. If you put HIDs in stock Super Duty headlight housings you will get the pretty sexy HID light look but it will be very diffuse from behind the wheel and won't be nearly as effective as they should be when it comes to illuminating the road ahead (not to mention it may provide a lot of glare to oncoming drivers or for you in a foggy situation.)

The ballasts are made in japan for what thats worth. I dont think they come with projectors. Im pretty sure it was just the bulb and ballast kit. I searched HIDs and it seems only retro fitting them you get projectors? I didnt see anyone with a plug and play kit.

What he's talking about projectors is something along the lines of the Hella Modules. Stock headlight housing are designed to reflect incandescent bulbs/filaments and not the HID's arc. I've never seen a bolt on set of HID modules for the superduties, but I've thought about adding those modules to a set of lenses, but it's a lot of work.

I haven't taken any dimensions, my idea was to cut out the reflector and replace it with a panel that had a small and large Hella Module bolted to it. However making the panel and then water proofing it is more than I want to deal with right now.
