Tire size for 97 f-250 question(early style)

I have a 97 Ford f-250..Early style, like the 96...and it has p 265/75R16 on it when I bought it. I know the truck calls for LT 235 85 R16. Will the lt tire be the same height, or smaller? Thanks

265/75R16 will be about 31.7" tall, section width about 10.4"

LT 235 85 R16 will be about 32" tall, section width about 9.6

of course those vary slightly with different brands, but those are close #s to actual.

Just incase your wondering the biggest you can fit is a 33 if its a 4x4. Get a nice set of 285/75/16s and you wont have any probs. I have that on my F350 right now as I dont do as much wheelin as I did so the 36's have been retired. The 285's are like a narrow 33. Heres a pic.

Here are the 36's

95350XL, what brand of rims do you have in the top picture? Mine look nearly identical but mine have a american racing stick not what ever one you have on yours.

Thanks for the info on the tires guys, Im going with the 285/75/16. But do they have to be LT, because lt take 80 some pounds, and the p,s take 40 some...?

mrhorsepower67: Get the 285's in whatever range you want. There is C,D,E. C is like 40 psi D is like 45-50 I think, and E is up to 80 on some. Just get the ones in the load range you want.

Raider50: The top wheels are AR's. The center caps came with the AR Bajas. There newer AR's.

mr hp.. check the ratings on each brand your considering. I went with the Yokohama Geolander A/T in a 285/75R16, load range D, and it is rated at 3305 lbs per tire. Plenty for the camper I put on it occasionally, and better than some E rated in a smaller size...

Check the specs: Tire Specs for Yokohama Geolandar A/T-S

I didn't get them from the rack..but they have a great spec section...
