Upgrades for a 6.9

I am comptemplating buying a 1985 F250 Diesel 4spd 4WD and was wanting to know what mfg.have turbo kits.

Also what upgrades would be needed for performance and mileage.

Will the 5spd from a 87 to 93 boltup?

Any help will be appreciated.

Welcome to FTE and the IDI diesel forum.

ATS was the turbo Ford adapted and installed on the stock turbo 7.3 motors.

Banks has a kit, but I have heard they are discontinuing it.

Hypermax also has a kit.

A turbo is the biggest bang for the dollar.
What other mods are required would depend on how hard you want to push the envelope with power.

Yes the 5 speed will bolt up, if it was originally behind a diesel.
The diesel tranny bolt pattern is different than the gas engine bolt pattern.
