Sunroof drain tube leak or bad seal?

I recently bought a 01 Screw with a sunroof. When I got it the sunroof was inoperable and leaked badly. I just spent all day rebuilding the track system. I highly recommend The Sunroof Doctor - Your source for replacement sunroof & t-top parts! for the parts. The sunroof had come apart as described in the TSB. The roof now works perfectly and the rear of the roof no longer leaks because of the correct placement of the water trough. But I washed it right afterwards and I had a leak on the drivers side at the front corner of the roof opening. After seeing the inside of the roof the only place I can figure it is coming from is the drain hose that goes down the A-pillar because the seal doesn't look horribly bad. Anybody got any ideas?

I bought my '01 in January and the sunroof leaked like crazy. After trying to adjust it and making sure the drain tubes were open, I decided I had to replace the seal. You could actually see a little daylight between the seal and the frame at the back corners. So, I paid the $120 or so to get the seal from the dealer and it fixed the issue. Wasn't exactly easy to change though. I used some soapy water to help get it on there and an old king pin to put enough pressure on it to push it into place. Kind of rolled along with the king pin. My hands were sure sore afterward. Nothing is ever easy!

Success...discovered that the driver side drain tube was clogged with grease. I ran a 14 gauge wire down through it and then poured water mixed with dawn down through it to break up the grease and rinsed it. Drains like a champ now. Thanks for the reply. Happy Fordin
