spider gear thrust washers

Is there a trick to getting the thrust washers in behind the spider gears. It's on a 10.25 rear. I was starting install a lock right and as I took things apart I saw that I had a limited slip carrier which won't work with this locker. I'm putting everything back until I find an open carrier. When I roll the spider gears in place it spits out the thrust washer. Any ideas?

give the washer a little lead in from teh spider gear itself......so as you spin the gears in the washer kinda just falls in place

Some grease to make things hang in there a little better.

x2 on some grease, it can help hold it all in place.

Thumbs up

It's almost like I need to compress the clutches in the limited slip to make the side gears move away from each other so the spiders can fit lower and make room for the washers. Hopefully that made sense. I'll give it another go tomorrow.thanks for the help!

i had the same problem when i rebuilt the LS in my 8.8 b/c i added a exta friction disc on each side so it was extra tight so it locked up more......

grease is your freind.....but like i said, i had to put the washer in a little further so when you turn the gears in when the washer stops, the spider gear will keep turning and the washer will fall in its place and go in..........

but i can see that somehow pressing the side spider gears apart would help some.....
