Which Steering Stabilzer ?

Having some work done at the local Ford Dealer(cooling system flush/fill and test, oil/filter change and rotate the tires, plus a check of belts and hoses).

The Tech mentions that overall the truck is in very good shape, but suggested I replace the front steering stabizer, which I declined but thanked him for pointing it out.

I had changed that out last year with a KYB unit less than 1 year ago. Do they go bad that fast or was than one just not up to the task? The truck feels real good was wondering how to tell if it's bad or was he just trying to make a buck.

Lookiing at these 2 as possible replacements if needed:

Rancho RS5000 Steering Stabilizer for $60.00 (Model# RS5410)

Fabtech Steering Stabilizer for $50.00 (don't have a Model #)

Thanks.

Tony

Pro-comp from Summit racing. About $30-40.

I ran the Monroe replacement and it lasted a year then started leaking. I replaced it with the Rancho, (also made by Monroe), and it actually seems to work better for me.

With the Rancho you should'nt need any brackets...comes with some bolts and goes right on to the stock mounts.
I just replaced mine with the 5410 last night.
Ordered mine from Summit Racing.
