2.3 liter mechanic help?

I have a 2.3 in my 87 Ranger. A while back it failed smog and was diagnosed by a local smog guy as having an intake maniforld leak at the gasket on the number one cylinder. Engine has rough idle but runs fine other than that. Managed to get it to squek by the smog but problem needs to be sloved.
My questions are how can i verify that that is t he problem? And how hard a job do you think that is to do at home? Im normally pretty mechanical and all but it seems there is alot of stuff to remove just to change the gasket. I have a chiltons book and it covers it but seems like an awfull lot of work. Any input from some one who has dealt with this will be helpful. Thanks joe

may be coolant comes to cyl#1 throught bad intake gasket.

It is not difficult to replace it. Use some seelant around coolant holes to prevent leak againe. Torque according manual.

Look for manual on-line. I prefere autozone.com.

Good luck and let me know when you'll do all well.
