04 Excursion with Relay low MPG

Hello all,
I was wondering about my 04 X with the 6.0. A year ago it could easily get an average of 15 and now babying it, it only gets 12. Any way to Gain any MPG weather it be Exhaust or Intake or Tuning. BTW This truck hauls a 13,000 Toy Hauler if that has anything to do with it,
Thanks
Nick

Were you getting 15 with the 13k toy hauler on the back?

Your sig. looks like you've done the exhaust and intake or at least filter which I don't think improves anything. (Personal opinion) I would not go the tuner route unless you are out of warranty or don't mind entertaining the thought of headstuds in the future. Since the time frame you are speaking about involves the switch over to ULSD fuel, I would consider that as a possibile contributing factor. If you haven't tried a cetane booster, I would give that a try. It would be the cheapest and easiest thing to try first.

I believe that portion of the sig is talking about his 7.3

exhaust and tuner would help

everyone will recommend the sct from spartan diesel but I'm pretty sure that the edge with attitude gets the best mpg against the other tuners

I never take mine off of level 1 (economy) which is something like 40hp and 60ft/lb's so I'm not worried about heads/trannys and I get 20 mpg city /24 hwy/ less than 12 with just about any thing more than 8k pounds behind me

Doesn't matter where you run it if you value a warranty you are rolling the dice.

Very true =D. I guess its debatable though. I'm personally out of warranty but the tuners been on since about day 5 of the trucks life. Every time I needed warranty work I just took it out.

I was speaking more in general of everyone who is spooked by the edge since people have lost trannys/ lifted heads by running it at level 3,4,5

and he's got a 04 so he should be out of warranty by now

Are you saying you get 20 mpg city / 24 mpg highway as averages for the specified driving condition or you did them once?

O no that is for my 01 X with the 7.3. The only things I have done to my 04 X with the 6.0 is 2 1/2 Reciver, Fire stone air bags, Helwig anti sway bar and 08 towing mirrors.

So you think edge is the way to go. I have always been scared about lifting the heads so thats while I am a little iffy on the tuner. But from what I read Matt @ spartin is the man but I am still up for options! And about the warranty no it still has 2 more years left My dad opted for the extened warranty

I just put wings on it and flip the engine off so really its not using any fuel =D

And my 20/24 are averages on every tank. The edge is amazing if all you want it for is mpg.

I guess I should also note that my MT's haven't been 35" tires in about 6 months =\

Switching to AT's in 2 weeks so I'll let you know if the numbers go up any.
