Noise under passenger floor

I am in the process of trading up from my Expedition to an Excursion. I test drove a 2002 4X4 with 110,000 miles. While on city streets I can hear and feel a slight rattle that seems to be right under the passenger side floor. Is this possibly a sway bar bushing or something possibly more severe? Any help would be appreciated as I am in the negotiating process. Thanks in advance.

Could be sway bar bushing, Loose bolt on the suspension, Leaf spring rattle. Loose fuel line. Good luck finding it. I have been chasing a thunk/clunk for a few months now

I believe that the exhaust is hitting towards the rear and you hear it under the floor. I had this on my 01 Ex with the V8.

Rattle?...could be as simple as a heat shield...

The heat shields are simply tack welded on the corners and if a weld fractures...you hear the rattle...

If you can...check the heat shields...the fix is easy...either take off the loose shield...or get a big stainless hose clamp and crank her down...that's what I've done in the past with great results...

Or...it could be more serious as suggested above.

GOOD LUCK!
joe.

Don't forget body mount, usually on driver's side feet however. More of a clunk. This was a problem on 2000 models. If its a V10 check the heat shield as mentioned.

The running boards can rattle if they get loose. Especially over little bumps.

I think I finally found the noise, it is more of a squeek when beginning and ending motion cycles. I sprayed the body mount with a spray lubricant and after a few miles it got a lot better, all but eliminating the squeak. The mount is solid and tight, just squeaks. It got better after I lubricated it. Might try something a little more permanent, maybe a lithium grease lubricant spray? Any thoughts?
