Question Which spark plug?

My questionable research is telling me I should buy the Motorcraft AGS F22WM plug for my 2001 E450 V10.

Is this in keeping with what the Big Guys say?

depending on your dealer price i'd stay away from them (not the MC plug, just the price).

go to wally world and get you a set of auto lite AP103's! they are the same heat range as the MC plugs, and in fact they are one in the same company just a separate packaging

Thanks Jason. I appreciate your reply.

From what you say, I gather that some of the stuff I read here earlier, may not be the straight skinny - - namely, there were some posts that implied that the Motorcrafts were made to FORD specifications and went on to imply they really weren't the same. I THINK I remember someone saying that the coatings or finish on the plugs were different.

Maybe that's just an urban legend?

Get the Motorcraft plugs. I've had new Autolites self destruct in the cylinder. They are about the same price anyway. Go to Autozone, they sell MC.

theoretically that could have happened to the MC plug too. same plug same make. probably 8 out of 10 people i talk to talk trash about autolite plugs. alot of it is personal choice, but i'd go with what is recommended. there is no need for a fancy plug. i've been running autolites in my mud drag truck for over 5 years, my z71 for over 10, and now my SD. as many plug changes as i went threw in that mud drag truck, i'm sure i would have ran across a bad one, haha!

but it's like fram filters too, i never had a problem while i was running them, and i stopped when i took one out of the box, it had a "rattle" to it, so i returned it and went with WIX (or NAPA) and never looked back.

From what I have heard, the plugs are not the same. They are not made on the same line. I have an Autolite and a Motorcraft from my truck downstairs. I'm going to go compare them.

sounds good to me, make sure they are the same #, and you do a good cross cut section to tell the EXACT difference.

Shouldn't that be APP103 for a double-platinum plug? I change mine at 30-40,000 mile intervals and they come out with the same gap as installed.
