simple question- stock radio wiring

95 F150xlt

previous owner swapped in a Pioneer cd player...cd player had fruit juice put in it...does not work.

i have the stock radio and would like to reinstall it. there is the antenna receptical and a couple rows of flat pins- 6 pins in one row and 8 in the other (vertically).

as it sits now i have 2 wires with male plugs- one red and one white and a plastic female thinger with about 20 some pin holes and a bunch of different colored wires going into it- two green/black on each end, a red, a blue, and orange i think....probably more.

what do i do to wire the stock radio back in?

the plug your talking about... is it the one that plugged into the back of the pioneer unit? If so then follow it back and it should connect to the factory harness... Just disconnect the pioneer harness and the stock harness should clip right in to the factory radio...

As far as I know the metal cages that aftermarket radios slide into are all compatible with each other. So you shouldn't be stuck with a Pioneer deck if you would rather try something else.

Also, I suggest shopping online as you can probably get a much better radio for the same money you would be paying to buy something from Walmart. One place I have been very happy with is Car Audio Video - Car Subwoofers - Car Amplifiers and Speakers

so i got a cheap panasonic...got the adapter harness- got it wired together...one blue and one orange wire left over- wired them to same colored wires (something removal and backup batt resp) in the truck...had to bypass the factory plug with a heavier black wire from the stereo plug to a heavier black with green stripe wire behind the factory plug (it had been cut and connected to a black wire on the old stereo plug-ground?)...hit the key and power button....NOTHING.

fuses are good.

any ideas?

so i got the thing hooked up best i can figure...riding around for two days hoping for a miracle i guess...miracles happen with them Fords...kinda.

i turn the headlights on and low and behold...pretty blue lights in the center of the dash.

i obviously have the radio wired in with the headlights somehow...i turn the lights off and lose all presets...like disconnecting the battery.

any ideas on that?

Sounds like you hooked the switched hot to the dash lighting wire. Either drive with your parking lights on, or get a multimeter and figure out which is which.

still don't have this figured out.

with all other wires connected to the harness (the ground wire bypasses the harness directly to the truck ground) and with the key in the ACC position i take the ACC wire from the radio and jump it across the harness from the truck hitting each terminal i get no power to the radio...i turn the parking lights on and i got power.

i don't get it.

Look at your owners manual for the Panisonic, I believe it'll show that the orange wire needs to be connected to a source that has power all the time (i.e. battery positive) which is the green/yellow wire on your harness. If this is what your manual shows this should take care of your problem. The left over blue wire is a remote on signal wire for an amplifier which you don't have, so don't connect it to anything. Here's the wiring on your stock radio harness and what each wire is for, compare this with your owners manual for your Panisonic and hook up accordingly.

Constant 12V+ Green/Yellow
Switched 12V+ Yellow/Black
Ground Red or Black
Illumination Blue/Red
Dimmer n/a
Antenna Trigger n/a
Antenna Right Front
Front Speakers 5 1/4" Doors
Left Front (+) Orange/Green
Left Front (-) Black/White
Right Front (+) White/Green
Right Front (-) Black/White
Rear Speakers 6" x 8" Side Panels
Left Rear (+) Pink/Green
Left Rear (-) Pink/Blue
Right Rear (+) Pink/Blue
Right Rear (-) Green/Orange

Sorry, I believe I made a mistake. The Orange should be your lumination, the Yellow wire from your Panisonic should should be your constant power. Again check your manual to make sure.
