can anybody tell me what the diff. is between the dana 44 and dana 50 IFS? Does the Dana 50 IFS have full floating axles being that it is a 3/4 ton? Thanks.

Just floating along...

The Dana 50s are a beefier version of the 44 IFS (Twin Traction Beam) units. Dana 44s were used for a several years on the light duty F250s. By virtue of their design, all of these front axles - straight ones as well - would be considered full floating since the vehicle weight is not carried by the drive axle(s). A 44 has "44" cast into the underside of the differential; while a 50 has "50" in its casting. There are several other differences, but this is the surest way to know if you are not familiar with these.
