1986 F-250 Efi

Just purchased a 1986 F-250 4X4 with big block. The truck is very clean and in good condition, except that the previous owner removed all of the EFI components and installed a carborator. I would like to return to EFI. Can anyone tell me what years and models to look for to scavenge the EFI parts? Do the parts all have to be from a big block truck? My only experience is with Chevy's where most of the parts are the same except for the chip in the computer.

I'm not so sure EFI was available on the BB in '86, but if you are determined to swap it, you need the complete top end from an EFI 460(heads and intake), as well as the wiring harness, computer, and distributor. Any '87-97 F or E sereis truck will do, though it would be better if you found an early one with a C6 or standard tranny.

If it never had EFI, I will probably just leave it alone. The previous owner said it had been removed. Maybe he didn't know what he was talking about?

It should have come with a Holley 4bbl carb. No EFI till later on a 460.

Halfway through the '87 year.
You would have to *find* a computer and swap out the harness (at least from the firewall forward), change the heads and manifolds, replace the frame mounted fuel pump (if you have one, I don't)....it's a lot of work.
