Is there a difference?

I was wondering if there was a difference between a Y-block out of a car or truck. I was also wondering if there was any bad years of the Y-block.

Is there a difference?

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 21-Aug-02 AT 11:29 PM (EST)]I've heard from an old Ford mechanic that early Y-blocks ( '54/'56 or so? mostly 239,256, and early 272's ) have some cam bearing alignment problems if the cam bearings are replaced during a rebuild. It's difficult to get the cam to go back in. If you are really interested in Y-blocks, try to find back issues of Classic Trucks magazine. They ran a series of very in depth articles, about a dozen in all, from early 2001 to early this year. There's lots of little update tricks and identifying tips.
