1985 302EFI question

Back again. Truck was idleing fine. Suddenly began pouring black smoke and idle erratic. Checked and there was gas in oil. Went through process found in forum (drained oil, replaced fuel regulator, drained oil). Started and ran decent for about 15 minutes idle and less than 2 road miles. Running rough again and oil seems to have gas. Doesn't have strong gas smell, but consistentcy. Tried pulling codes old fashioned way and the best I can determine, the codes refer to TPS.

Question is, would a bad TPS cause this problem?

Any bad sensor will cause a problem, specifically what codes did you get?

I do not have them with me here, but I know it was related to the TPS.
Sorry I can't be more specific. I was wondering if a failing TPS could cause dumping too much fuel in the thing?

Yes, as stated every sensor has an impact. With fuel in the crankcase, it's more likely you have an injector stuck open or the FPR is toast and leaking fuel into the intake via the vacuum line. Definitely follow any leads the codes present to you, if the TPS has a dead spot at part throttle then the computer may think you are gone WOT and tell the injectors to open the flood gates. Anything is possible.

Yes a bad TPS can cause you to run rich at idle and low RPM, definitely getting major fuel in the oil.

I drained all the oil again and am going to leave the drainplug and filter off for a day or two. I pulled all the plugs (just replaced when this started) and all looked about the same. They were each a little sooty and smelled strong of gas. None of the plugs were any wetter than the other so it does not appear to be an injector. Also there was no sign of gas in the fuel regulator line. As far as the codes go, I am not sure I have pulled the correctly, but I am pretty sure. HELP!!!
