I have a 1966 F-100 2wd with a dana 60 rear end. I don't know what kind of shape the rear end is in or the gear ratio, but how hard or expensive is it to rebuild one? Are the dana 60 capable of 400 horsepower?

Dana 60 is one of the strongest, most capable rear diffs ever used in a production vehicle. 400 hp is nothing for a Dana 60.

Spicer-Dana 60.2's were optional on 1961/67 F100's.
5 lug 5.50" bolt pattern. With or without Limited Slip was available.
I've decoded at least 15 of these Spicer-Dana 60.2 axle codes here on FTE.
First digit of AXLE code is a letter, it's a Limited Slip.
First digit of AXLE code is a number: non Limited Slip.

I've got a 60 on my 64 f250, how hard might it be to change the gear ratio, and the axles (I assume thats what I'll need to change from an 8 to a 5 lug pattern)?

I was thinking about swapping the full rear end butt stick with a 60. I'm not using the truck to haul or tow anything, just as a first restoration project.
