292 - Need a new Oil pickup tube - Suggested Part dealers?

As noted in recent posts, I am wrapping up a 292 rebuild. Machine shop says that the oil pickup tube shows signs of wear and they recommend per the service manual, that I replace it.

Any good parts dealers who carry the block internal parts?

Thanks,

Greg

If you're talking about the internal pickup that mounts inside the pan, Mellings should make one. If it's the external tube from the oil pump to the pan, I's not sure if they would have that or not. Any parts dealer should be able to get parts from Mellings. They specialize in oil pumps and pickups ( oil pump pickup tubes, not pickup trucks that is ).

OK - I'm a dummy.

Does Mellings have a website? WWW.Mellings.com didn't work.

Thanks again,

Greg

Hey, youdog! Did you ever find a source for the oil pickup tube?

I was just looking at mine and wondering if there's a better pipe available. Mine has a small bit of a kink on the inside of the first bend. That can't be good.

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find a new oil pickup tube. I am having the machine shop's "Master Mechanic" (aka "the old guy") take a look at my old one. To my mind, a slightly warn pickup tube in a truck that will be a low stress as my will be, can't be that big an issue. So long as it isn't cracked or somehow not be able to maintain a syphon. I checked out the Mellin site but it looked like I could only get complete Oil pumps assemblies. I just don't want to go there since I already have a freshly rebuilt oil pump.
