I do not normally do this ~ But i felt this warranted it...

About 3 weeks ago, i hapened to stumble across an FTE member selling a billet grille and exhaust in the classifieds. I inquired on the grille and before you know it, it was bought and being shipped. Along the lines i wanted to confirm a few things, one being the style, condition, etc..... The response was:

" I actually plan to get out to take the pictures tomorrow afternoon when I'm on lunch. The grille is a full replacement..and is one piece. It is in great shape as it has only been on the truck for a max of 6 months, same with the exhaust. I'll shoot you an email when I get the pics. Also...where are you located?"

I wanted a full replacement (Not overlays or inserts) and so this email was the deciding factor. Not to mention the fact that it "Looked" to be in great shape and based on the email, i had no reason to doubt the comments...

It arrived on Friday. I opened the box up and... Well..... It was a 3pc overlay oxidized and pitted quite badly. All the bracketery was severely rusted and to be perfectly honest, in really bad shape.

I was dooped. I sent the seller an email asking for an explanation however i didn't expect a reply. So, i would strongly advise against any dealings with

I would post this in the super duty pickup truck section as well. I HATE when I see members of a board get screwed like this. The car/truck community is usually a great place where people go out of their way to help each other, but a few bad apples spoil it for everyone. You read a few too many of these stories and people are less inclined to trust and help each other out. I wish there was a way we could ring the necks of all these idiots taht do this crap on these sites.

I'd let the admin on here know about it as well, not sure what system they have in place to deal with bad sellers, but I'd imagine they have a few ways of helping you possibly or at least banning this idiot.

Pretty unreal - sorry to hear that happened. Not a long time member, but certainly a consumer who believes in fairness. A couple weeks ago I mentioned upon changing out my headlights that if anyone wanted them to let me know. A member contacted me, we agreed - I shipped. His check arrived and I agreed, and have - held his check until he has the package (shipped simulataneously and this happens to be probably the one time in the world USPS beat UPS from coast to coast) that I would hold until he received and was satisfied. If not, I will fix it.

What is ironically unfortunate is that the grill it sounds like you expected is one that I actually tossed a couple weeks ago. Brand new, bought it off of ebay but decided to install a different one. Didn't want to bother trying to resell it since the seller had about 25 of them online and a strong feedback - no way to compete with that. I even had to spiff my trash guys $10 to take it.

Advice well-heeded. Best of luck next time.

sorry to hear about all that :-(

I don't know how much you paid for it, but if you paid with credit card, can you nail him for fraud and at least get your money back?

It's not really the money but rather the trust...

It was a grand total of about $75.00. For me to file a claim with paypal, possibly return the item, etc.... It's more a pain than a benefit....

It's more about the trust for me. I'll still use the grille, however I just cannot cross this upgrade off my list as it is not what i was looking for ....

Mods, like on the SD side, please close this thread. I just wanted to make people aware if EVER they deal with this scoundrel.

Cheers,

ALL personal issues with another user about selling or buying must be handled OFF line NOT through the forums or FTE's systems!
