axod trans problems

i'm helping a friend with a 98 ford winstar and the trans is an AXOD trans and it lost all forward and the reverse without any kind of warning it just stopped moving ,dropped the pan and the fluid was a little burnt and a slight bit of metal on the magnet any info would be greatly appreciated thanks

try a Taurus forum. they use almost same tranny

Aeros are RWD and use a totally diff. auto tranny A4LD

Same weak tranny as is in the Taurus. Your friend will need a new one or re-build this one. They just go out and it does not take much.

as i'm going to forever suggest now to any one that owns a tarus/windstar/w/e that's front wheel drive: stick a tranny cooler on it! you WONT regret it.
