While I have never been a fan of the factory tail lights on Ford trucks, I usually just left them there because...... Well, on "Someday" I wanted something different. I'm not exactly satisfied with the bumper, but it will do until I come up with something else.

I think its a great concept. It might look a bit better if the depth of the bumper was deeper. That looks like its maybe a 3" channel, a 4" to 4.5" might look a bit better as there would be some bumper material visible on the top and bottom of the lights.
Don't forget a license plate light. I had a cop pull up next to me and remind me of it shortly after I got my truck driving.

Guess it's a bunch for, one against. I'm not fond of them at all. To me, they look "odd", like they don't belong. Perhaps with a different bumper...
In my opinion, they would look better mounted vertically in the middle of the rear fender, than in the bumper. Again, just opinion.
Of course, ANY are better than mine - I don't have any, just one really, really rusted bracket. I'll be buying some. I'm not all that jazzed over the stock ones, but the rest of the truck will be stock, so I'm rather "stuck" with the stock ones.

Personally, I wanted to do whatever I could to run the shield tail lights. I have always liked them.
However, one of my buddies put LED tail lights, similar to the ones you have, recessed (flushed) into the rear bumper of his 40 Tudor. He used blacked-out red glass so they disappear into the black bumper until he hits the brake. They look totally cool!

Growing OLD is mandatory. Growing UP is optional. Inside every old guy is a younger guy wondering what the heck happened.
I put a similar pair (aftermarket LED 42 Ford car tail lights) in the stock rolled rear bed crossmember of my 49. The ones in your bumper were a little too big and I like the ss oval rim around the lights on the 42 Ford. If I am correct you are using the readily available big truck or trailer lights-more reasonable in $ than what I did..
They aren't bad, but I would rate them as only average. I like the shields a lot better. If you really want something different, I saw a truck with a car bumper on the rear and it had the orignial bumperettes installed with the blinkers vertically molded into them. Good luck, Jag

If you are building your own LED lights there has to be LED's pointed in all the directions you want the light to be seen.
If all the lights are aimed straight thats where they will be seen, a few degrees off in any direction and you see Squat.
