rubber o-rings and biodiesel ?

hey guys first time poster here, I have been researching biodiesel for awhile and just stumbled upon an 84 f250 6.9 w/ats turbo kit and a dual range od for 400.00 dollars. so now im serious about it. do i have to change all of the rubber components in the fuel system i.e. the ip , the lines , etc.. ? i have been slowly putting together all of the parts to do a prossesor in a trailer with a co2 fire system. any input on this would be greatly appreciated.

thanks in advanced

Troy

Hello Troy. Welcome to FTE!!!

An 84 model may very well still have some natural rubber components, but I don't know for sure. Diesel rated low pressure line (sae30r7) isn't all that expensive so it wouldn't be too big of an issue to replace the supply and return lines. Chances are a $400 6.9 probably needs the injection pump and injectors rebuilt anyways, so that really shouldn't be an issue either.

Sounds to me like all the pieces are falling into place for you.

Unfortunately the age of your truck will be a bit of a problem. Ford went to all vitron in about 1994 but prior to that there was a mix of vitron and rubber for several years.
First step would be talk to your local ford dealership parts store and see if they can tell you which parts are rubber then see if they have replacement vitron or similar substance parts. You can buy long tubes and hoses from other sources and probably some O-rings but gaskets and diaphragms will be part specific so will have to come from ford.
