Ford recalling more than 655,000 trucks

A Flash from CNN May 14:

Ford spokesperson Wes Sherwood confirms that Ford is recalling more than 655,000 Ford F-150 and Lincoln Mark LT pickup trucks that were made in 2005 and 2006. The pickup trucks need to have a hose fixed that affects the brake assist system not the main braking system. About 600,000 of the trucks are in the U.S, about 50,000 are in Canada and about 1,500 are in other countries internationally. Sherwood says that there have been 11 accidents tied to the issue but no injuries have resulted from the accident. Owners will be notified when parts are available to fix the problem in late June and they can then take their trucks to Ford dealers who can replace the hose at no charge.

I don't think it matters. I bought my Land yacht used and they still did the cruise control fix for no charge.

A Recall is a recall, doesn't matter if you purchased it used or not, Ford will fix it.

It must not have reached the dealerships yet because I was there this morning and the service manager didn't mention it. I'll get them to fix it when my new fender flares come in.

I paid $461.00 to get the hose put back on about 2 weeks ago. Can I get reimbursed?

Once Ford starts the recall program, you should be able to get a refund. Take the paperwork/receipt from the repair back to the Dealership, and they should be able to start the refund process for you.

The only way I could see that you might not get a refund would be if the work was not done by a Ford/Lincoln/Mercury Service department.

Good luck.

I saw the recall is for trucks built after June 18, 2004. My 2004 was built in June as well, so I'm wondering if Ford is screwing us by "limited" the effective models. I'm sure the vacuum line didn't change from 04 to 05 so I'm concerned that I'll end up with the same issue. I'll have to check my line this weekend.

V8EXPLR is gaining momentum as a positive member of FTE.
Like twinsdad98 said, no matter if you bought new/used, recalls require them to repair all effected models.

I bought a new 2006 in 12/06, built in June '06. Guess I'll have to keep my eyes pealed for the notice. I haven't done enough thorough research, but what is the cause and resolution for this recall? Is it simply replacing brake hoses/claps?

Mine blew off when I serviced the Trans. (evidently no relationship). It cost me 461 for repair and tow. They said they had to remove the injector rails to get to it.

Probably because you can't see it! I believe it's the hose the from the brake booster to the manifold, but it's tucked down between the firewall and the intake manifold. Those, you have no room to reach it. Looks like for 05 and 06, Ford took the clip off the hose and over time due to the fuel vapors the hose swells.

Looks like I may need to take my 2006 to the Ford Dealer soon and have them look at it. I think mine was built in June as well. I too bought my truck used and its still under factory warranty.
