I get around 17 in mine, but I drive very conservatively, anticipate my stops, etc.

17!!!!! WOW! I know my 93' 5.0 does not even come close to that. These things aren't even rated to get anything close to that.I have an 02' Explorer with the 4.0 that only gets that and that's what it is rated at.

I get 13 to 14 in mine driving reasonably. I have 31's and 4.10 gears. 17 is pretty good I've read of others getting 19 to 20.

Life is full of compromises isn't it? We love our 5,300 pound Broncos with the aerodynamics of a cinder block. You may want to do a search by going above to Forums then Search. MPG has many answers. For me, 16.6 mpg highway, A/C off windows up, @65 mph, speedometer accurate. I am satified that will be my best for an Intestate highway trip. Trailer, two 4-wheelers and rolling hills drop it to 12 mpg.

FTE is great! Be a supporter to keep this forum going. 94 5.8 EB, 460 air inlet tube, K & N drop in, MSD Blaster, 9 mm Ford Racing Wires, mechanical oil and temp guages and the rest all stock.

we had a '89 that got 15 at best. had the 302/4speed manual with no overdrive, creeper 1st/3.55 gears and 235-75-15 tires. the '96 that replaced gets about the same with the 351 E4OD and 3.55's with 31-10.50 tires. i still prefer the 302 manual over the 351 auto. when towing the the 351 drops into the single digits fuel economy wise. its a absolute tractor though in low-range 4wd.

I have a completely refurbished motor I rebuilt last year with a Comp Cams upgraded cam, automatic, and 31" tires and I get 17 on the highway and about 14 in the city.

I have a worn-out 302 with 245K miles on it and it gets about 14 with 3.55 gears. When it was new it would do about 15 or so. E4OD trans btw.

Nice to see another "Silver Anniversary" owner on the site
Thats a lot of miles on your rig. Mine had appx 126,000 when then #3 piston melted and forced me to do a rebuild.

My '93 302 auto gets about 16-17 average. That's with 255K miles on the original drivetrain and 31" tires. Just make sure tires have plenty air and timing is set right. Both of those alone costed me 3-4 mpg.
