2004 F-150 Lariat - my backup sensors (factory) quit working (says off on the dash whenever truck is in reverse) and shortly after they quit my backup lights quit working. I tried changing the switch on the transmission and that did not change anything. All the fuses are good. Bulbs are good. Been reading and the most likely cause for the sensors is a faulty sensor. Does anyone know if I can test them myself with an ohm meter or do I have to get this done at the Ford dealership? Any help with the backup light or anymore suggestions on the sensors would be greatly appreciated as I am at a loss right now.
I would think you could test them with an ohm meter and do the diagnostics yourself. I will look at my manual when I get home and see if there is a procedure to trouble shooting this. Not sure why the backup lights would go out at well. I would have thought Ford would have made them independent for safety reasons...

I looked at my manual. I could try to scan them in and post them or email them to you. However, there should be codes stored in memory for the Reverse sensors. Do you have a way of pulling the codes? That would definitely help your trouble shooting.
