351C questions

hi,
im a new guy here in this forum, hope u guys are willing to help me out w/ a few questions, im a member of the truck forum, but i think these questions are better asked here in the room. i have the complete drivetrain out of a 1971 LTD, 351c 2v w/ an FMX transmission. ive got this motor and transmission installed in a 49 ford p/u.
my question is im looking for headers for this motor/trans.. now obvioulsy i cant go by application. but what im hoping to do is go by something similar to an LTD application.
i have a TON of room, crossmember is a tube which is way ahead of teh original, a floor shifter. and even using the original ltd trans xmember....
i have found some real close headers in catologs, (meaning similar to an ltd) yet they are either listed as fitting c4 or c6 trans only...
so i guess the root of my question is...does anyone have a similar vehicle, w/ an fmx trans? and are the c4 trans. wider? will headers meant for a 351c w/ a c4 clear my fmx?..
i know every application is differant...i just feel w/ the amount of room surrounding this engine i should be able find something, just concerned w/ this trans issue. also..who knows maybe ill end up swapping this transmission out someday...maybe ide be better off buying a set that fit the c-4 application?
im not doing these headers for any performance gain ect.... just love the differance in the sound w/ headers....
hopefully someone can give me some advice....thanks...Robert

I don't know about the headers but you should ID your engine first. 351C wasn't used in LTD's. Could be 351M or 400 which look similar.

well....im walking around scratching my head...ive been convinced for a number of yrs since having this engine its a Clev. the car i took it from is ofcourse long gone..but i rememebr looking it all over back then...i didnt think the 351m/400 existed in 71' did they?
maybe someone can tell me how to identify it exactly? the block is sorta crusty w/ rust..(that was what killed the car) so as far as looking for block numbers that might be difficult....the engine and trans only have 23k on them.......now im confused...

If it came out of a 1971 ltd, it cant be a 351m (built by destroking a 400 starting from 75´) or a 351c, it has to be a 400 if stock, by the way the 351m and 400 are virtually identical from the outside and look very alike to the 351c being the same family ,335 , try this : TMeyer, Inc. Precision Automotive Machining

It should be a 400. Things like valve covers, dizzies interchange with 351C but the manifold is wider due to higher deck. That's actually a better choice of engines I would say.
