5.4 running like poo

ok, so last weekend my truck started running like it was miss-firing, but no check engine light. tookk apart the intake and found a lot of engine oil. I am running a k&n air filter but it had been a long time since i cleaned the filter so i knew it wasn't filter oil, plus it wasn't red. so i cleaned all of the oil out, and sprayed the MAF and IAT with elect. cleaner...all was well for a few days until today when it started acting up again. the best way to describe it would be a chug, especially at low rpm. my guess is the oil is messing with the sensors, but i don't know how or why there is so much oil getting into the intake. the pcv valve is new and working fine. what would happen if i disconnect these hoses and the plug the holes in the intake tube?
thanks for the help

180K miles. i can see blow by if its warm, no more than if i were to take off the oil cap. another person suggested the coil on plugs, he said his truck had the same symptoms and he replaced the plugs and COPs and problem solved. but at about 50 bucks a pop i would hate to buy 8 and only need one. but without a mis-fire when i read the codes how could i tell which one is bad? only thing i can think of is buy one and swap it around til it runs good...any other ideas?

Replace the vss sensor that is bolted to the top of the rear end. Pretty common problem just a few bucks at most part stores
