I've got a 87 Bronco 5.0. And I had a cracked head, So when doing swap, I took both sides off and did a port & polish. AFTER reading here it was OK to do without a MAS. I didn't do much to the intake side. Just burs (spelled?) and any imperfections. But I did take alot off the exhaust sides. And now when trying to maintain a speed (30 to 35 or even 65 to 70) going up a hill it seems to be kinda sluggish. Almost like it was when I had a burnt exhaust valve. That I think lead to the cracked head in the first place. It seems as though the fuel - air mix might not be right. Did I take to much off??? Or am I overlooking something??? THANX! for any info.
porting alone will not cause this. people port their heads all the time and it does the opposite of making it run slower. Id check the computer for any codes and start going down the list of other things wrong with it. Besides, its not like you can unport it now anyway
I know I can't unport it. But I've been told you can't pull codes from this old of a computer. (At least not at the zone). And I can't find anything else wrong. So I'm wondering if anybody else has had results like this? And if so, how they dealt with it. Another thing, I'm noticing, is that the motor doesn't seem to get very warm. I don't know if this info helps or not, But I thought I'd throw it out there. So... Anybody else???

Ignore whoever has told you this... they don't know what they're talking about. Go here.. Ford Fuel Injection and read the section on doing the self test, it's dumb easy. Once you get the codes come back and post them and we'll figure out what's wrong. BTW, your porting did not cause this problem, you may have a dirty injector or malfunctioning EGR.

All I can say right now is AWESOME!!! That's some great info. Maybe when I learn to use this PC a little better, I'll know how to find this stuff myself. Meanwhile... MUCH THANX!!! It might be a day or so before I get the codes, But... "I'LL BE BACK" And THANX again!!!
Here comes the party pooper again. Hogging out the exhaust ports CAN do a lot of bad things, mainly slowing the flow and causing reversion (pollution of the intake charge with burned gases during overlap). Exhaust velocity is essential to proper scavenging. Bigger is not always better. Exhaust ports that are larger than the openings to the header primary pipes will do the same thing.
