just wondering what you guys would suggest the truck will be a daily driver with some summer tow duties, if i go for the 150 it'll be a crew cab 6.5ft bed, if i go superduty again crew with the 6.5ft bed, i don't want a diesel. any help or input would be appreciated
Thats getting pretty heavy for a 150, I wouldn't tow over 7k with an F-150, because by the time you have everything loaded it will be a 8k plus trailer with all of your gear. I would go with an F-250 with a V-10. I noticed that your from Ab Canada, is that Abbotsford??

thanks for the posts, i'm in edmonton, i was thinking that was likely too much for the 150, i think if i got the SD i'd go for the v10, can never have too much power
Amen, as my favorite saying goes no replacment for displacment. I'm not sure exactly where that is, but if your going to the U.S to get your truck, I can't reccomend Pioneer Ford in Lynden Washington.

I agree with builtfordtough13. 9,000 lb is max for f-150 I know several owners that love/hate the V-10. It has plenty of power but it is very thirsty! They all have their pros and cons. Diesel is no deal unless you are pulling a lot! Good luck.
Go with a SD and get the V10. I just got out of the F250 in my signature. I pulled a 6k trailer from MD to South Dakota in the hills of PA I could have used the extra grunt. The truck itself was great plenty of weight (integrated trailer brake controller and tow mirrors) to mitigate trailer swinging and bouncing. I have a smaller 2004 Wilderness 19ft travel trailer and my 5.4 F250 struggles with hills. I know my F150 with the 4.6 will struggle too but, your trailer will be pushing an F150 to the limits.

The SD w/5.4 would be perfect for what you're intending to haul. Not to mention they get the same gas mileage as the F150 w/5.4. I drive a V10 on a daily basis and sure it's got good power, but for the gas it GUZZLES I'd take a powerstroke in a heart beat!
Actually, they do not get the same gas mileage. Same engine, different trucks. My 5.4L F250 does not get the gas mileage that my buddies 5.4L F150 does. Remember the 250 weighs more, and it does make a difference.
All you guys with the V10 that's thirsty- KEEP YOUR FOOT OUT OF IT!
I went from a 2005 F250 5.4 w/3.73 to a 2008 F350 6.8 w/ 4.10 - and the mileage is the same. I'm seeing a little over 12 mixed driving and 8-9 tugging 14 K high profile 5er around. Doesn't get any better than this.
