Cranks but does not start new questions

My last thread that I entered last Friday stated that I was having problems with the truck cranking but not starting and after everyones help with all the different problems that might be causing this and as a last resort we sprayed starting fluid in the air intake and the truck started. The truck has started everytime since even when cold in the morning so I have several questions. The CPS sensor was replaced also.
1. Why did the truck not want to start until spraying starting fluid and is starting fine now?
2. I know several glow plugs are bad and are for mainly starting a cold engine can bad glow plugs affect the operation of the engine even when operating at normal temperature?
3. Can bad glow plugs also be the reason for the romping in the mornings and for the missing until it gets to operating temperature?
4. For my last question the engine has some blowby meaning the engine is puffing smoke like a train through the oil fill can this be caused by the injectors or is it the rings?
I appreciate everyones input from my last post and hope to hear everyones thoughts.

Never ever spray starting fluid into a diesel. You got lucky this time it extremely bad for the engine. If absoultly necessary use wd-40. It probably started due to the cps replacement. The glow plugs will continue to work with the engine running for up to 2 minutes, The romping may be due to the glow plugs. A few cold nights here that I did'nt plug it in I had the romps. Some people have had luck changing the type of oil. (not sure what it was exactly)
Other will chime in and offer up some more and better advice. Also some words on starting fluid on diesels......

Your glow plugs are only turn on when the engine is cold.. After getting the engine up to operating temperature and you shut off the engine and restart it, the glow plugs do not turn on.
As far as the romp, i have completely eliminate this condition by switching to Shell Rotella synthetic oil 5W40..(year round) but the glow plugs not working could affect the romp too, i guess.

That is what I figured about the glow plugs. We are using rotella in both of our diesels year round.
Let me rephrase about the starting fluid we used some off brand wd-40 to get her started I should of never referenced starting fluid because of the damage that and will be done when using starting fluid.
One question though can the fuel injectors cause the blow by or is it a ring issue and is there a way to check the compression?
Thanks for everyones support.
