Right now I'm one of the few that are beta testing the FICM tuning for Matt's new tuner. His company is Spartan Diesel Technologies. SCT is doing their own research into that I believe, so it will be with their stuff. Matt was able to use his FICM with my xCal 2, but that will change when his new stuff is ready to go.

Why is everybody so down on the banks stuff - from what I have read - the six gun with the Palm Tungsten hookup gives you all kinds of information and adjustment capabilities. I like the Idea of the SCT with a Matt progam (it's one helluva lot cheaper) but I also like the ability to monitor what is going on with my truck from one unit. I really don't want to install a bunch of gages.

because you're adding power to your motor and leaving your tranny to fend for itself. custom tunes adjust ecm and tcm so they work together.

Here is a copy of a post that I made in another thread, but still applies to this one. Now while the post focuses on the bullydog monitor in particular it is not limited to that it also applies to the pda that your talking about as well.

Two problems that I have had with digital monitors that use the OBD-II connection.

1. They rely on the Ford gauges and I have noticed(particularly with the tranny) that some of those gauges give off a cooler reading then what I get with the analog gauges. Which isn't a good thing, because their are parts of what you are monitoring that are hotter then what you are reading so therefore, you run the risk of burning something up despite the fact that your monitoring the gauges. Now you can compensate for that if you know the difference between the two readings and set your warnings accordingly.

2. Monitors that come from companies that also due tuners typically only allow you to use their programs with their monitors. That makes it limited for you if you wanted someone else's tuner but wanted a different monitor. If you want a monitor despite reason 1 above then you want to get something like the dashhawk or dashdaq or something that does not have built in tunes(like the bully dog PMT or even the outlook as it doesn't have an option for "outlook w/other" for the 6.0ls anymore).

I really don't give a rats ass about bolts or studs - I have been running a bully dog on my truck for 3 years at 70% with no issues - I'm tired of hearing what crap the 6.0 is - mine works more than fine and I would take it over a ****ty dodge or chevy any day of the week. The whiners out there need to step off and have a nice tall glass of STFU.

Anyway - the bully dog is ok but my mileage is crap - I want something a little more effectient and maybe some monitoring capabilities.

So.. - What's better the BANKS or the SCT and WHY

Why is everybody slamming the Banks system - they are not my favorite and they are expensive but they seem to have been in the business a very long - I just want a few facts.

I think I'm going to go with the Spartan but.... Is there anything in the pipe that will be coming out in the next month or two that I should wait for? I saw a few posts on some new tuner that Spartan is comming out with.

Also, I do want to install a pyrometer - anybody have a suggestion for a good one

buy and sct not banks i have switched between the two and i will say there is nothing to compare. With banks you dont have hardly anything to change like they say and it is terrible i repeat terrible on the tranny. If you want guages with the sct just get the livewire for eight hundred bucks and i will guarante you will be happy

Good decision. Did he give you any idea when it will be ready?

How come nobody seems to be running any edge products??They have multiple tuning options,,as well as tranny tuning. Also,,IMO treat things with respect and care,,and they will last forever.

The percentages of edge products ruining the torqshift tranny on these trucks outweighs those that reported good experiances with them. I can't recall if they used the modules and/or tuners that had the tranny tuning in them(or safety features other then defuel), but I wouldn't take a chance on either one given the numbers.
