One question is the cab supposd to be this cramped? I'm 5'11 16-170 pounds and I don't think I'll be putting on weight anytime soon if I want to fit comfortably....[/QUOTE]
I don't think it was designed to be cramped, in fact, the sale literature touted it as being bigger than the previous model. Ford spent a million dollars redesigning the cab, the "Million Dollar Cab".
I'm a pretty big guy, 6'2", and let's say on the down hill side of 290 and drive my stock truck. I do suspect the steering wheel swells a bit every year. My theory is the poor material they used to make the wheel absorbs moisture while in winter storage and enlarges the wheel, making the space between the steering wheel and seat shrink. I might have a problem this year, the truck has been in storage for two years and the steering wheel might have absorbed extra moisture

You guys are on to it! I know for a fact the fibers used in the original seat padding react to denim. Every year I notice how my jeans are tighter due to the old seat in the truck. Now my work pants dont show the effect yet. I havent measured the effects of the wheel yet.
IM smart like that IM like a #00 spy.

Oh and Old F1 I'm guessing you have seen I'm from Saskatchewan. You can't see the hills, but you can see my dog running away in the one picrure.
And I think it is alot harder to keep a 250 pound guy in a 49 Mercury, then it is to keep a 250 pound women out of a 49 Mercury. Guys will find a way to get themselves in there somehow.

I had a tight fit too, so I put in a tilt column with a smaller wheel and then put in a Ranger seat with the thinner seat back. Lowered the seat 1" so I look out of the center of the windshield instead of the top side. Made a bunch of difference. I fit in pretty good now. There are pics in my Gallery.
