How to make a 4.2L Sound Good?

Well I've been working on my 98 f150 4x4 4.2L reg cab. about every weekend making it look the way I want it and now that its done its time to move onto sound! I had a old thrusk in the garage i put on just for ****s and giggles. A few days later I put a magnaflow on it, but its not really what I want. It sounds more like a sports car. I know its because its a 4.2 v6. But I was wondering if there is anything I could do to make it more deep throat? I tried a straight pipe but its more of a blat then anything. Thanks.

My 02 4x2 RC has a 40 series Flowmaster, but it has the dual outs that exit in front of the passenger rear wheel - like the 97s did.

It is loud at idle and when on the move. It is not as throaty as a V8, but it is noisy.

You could also go with a larger bodied high flow cat.

Bigger pipe after the muffler will give a deeper tone.
