Question What flows better [AIR FILTERS]

Ok what is gonna flow better: A standard paper filter that measures 14" OD x 5" tall(approx face surface area is 220 sq in) or a K&N filter 11" OD X 3" tall(approx face surface area is 104 sq in). Thanks for the help in advance.

I'd say the paper for sure. Not only that, but it will trap and SAFELY hold much more dust before becoming as restricted as the K&N would.

There's really only one place for K&N. On tarmac competition. They're out of there league anywhere else.

Yeah I kinda figured that too. I was trying to explain to my buddy's dad and he just couldn't understand it. I told him his K&N might flow better but I have double the surface area to draw from, so that even if paper is more restrictive the paper filter has more capability for CFMs. that's where it counts.

Yep. You're on to it.

The K&N likely does flow more per square inch, but thats only half the equation. Nevermind debating whether it filters as finely as paper elements. Which from what I can gather, it doesn't.

We had one of those K&N displays at the Advance auto parts I worked at in high school you know the one with the pig pong ball and the little fan the fan can hold the ball up when blowing through the K&N but the ball drops when you swap it for the fram. We got bored on night and decided to clean the filter so my coworker went to his truck and got the can of oil and sprayed it down and after that the ball wouldn't stay up for either one of em the manager had to order a new filter he was kinda PO. After that I just bought regular filters.
