Arrow V.I.N. decoder problem...1982 - present!!

ok guys and/or gals...all the VIN decoder sites(even Ford) won't decode anything older than 1982! I think i've looked every where. can some one point me in the right direction? Or can you decode this V.I.N.....
This is how it reads on the metal stamp on the inside cover of my glove box...

U15GLE93312

092 H U150 9U98 C B8J
51

as you can see there are a few different #'s. a vin is supossed to be 17 digits, right? Well the bottom # is 16, unless you add the 5 and the 1 that's two to many. maybe it was different before 1982!? Help me out here guys. Thanks.

A good VIN decoder for Early Broncos can be found at

RCrawler is gaining momentum as a positive member of FTE.
The 9U98 is the body and trim code.
98 is for long roof (wagon) or HD wagon. In this case, it would be the standard U150. I think that 9U is for parchment interior, maybe for the Sport package. This is the same code as my 69.

A "J" along with the axle code denotes power steering. But since it wasn't offered until 73, it doesn't make much sense.
